Each year, Residence Life at the University of Guelph employs over 150 students across campus in a variety of exciting roles. You could be one of them! We have roles that are required to live in residence as well as some roles that are not required to live in residence.

Working on Residence Life Staff (RLS) can provide you with a wealth of opportunities to learn and grow outside of the classroom.  Working as a student leader provides you with opportunities to enhance your leadership, communication, teamwork and conflict resolution skills.

Residence Life Staff Positions - Who Can Apply?

New Staff Positions are available to any University of Guelph student who is enrolled full-time who meets our academic requirements.

  • You can apply if you are a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at the University of Guelph and in good standing (i.e. no significant residence or campus conduct history).
  • You need a minimum cumulative and semester average of 65% (or 70% if applying for Cluster Leader or Senior Academic Programmer roles). 
  • Please read job description for a full outline of responsibilities 
     

Returning Staff Positions are available for current or past members of Residence Life Staff. For senior-level positions such as Senior RA, and Community Assistant, we also welcome new applicants with (significant) leadership experience to apply. 

  • You can apply if you are a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at the University of Guelph and in good standing (i.e. no significant residence or campus conduct history).
  • You need a minimum cumulative and semester average of 65% (or 70% for Cluster Leader or Senior Academic Programmer roles).

  • *Note on remuneration for returning RLS members in salaried positions: if you are returning to the same position (RA to RA, CL to CL, CA to CA, etc) then you will receive an additional $50/month for every year (two 4 month terms) you’ve been in the role (up to a maximum of 3 years).  This equates to an additional $200 (1st year returning) or $400 (2nd year returning) per semester. If you are moving positions (DS to RA, CL to AP, RA to CL, etc) then you receive the base compensation for that position.
