Fall 2023 Late Applicant Priority

Updated July 3, 2023

As of July 3, our campus residences are now full.  New late applicants will be added to a residence waiting list in order of application and deposit date. We will continue to make additional residence offers throughout the summer and fall to maintain full occupancy. Priority will be given to new incoming late international applicants and semester one students who receive a new direct offer of admission from the University.

The Residence Application remains OPEN and new applicants are encouraged to apply.

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I guaranteed residence as a late applicant?

At this time, late applicants are not guaranteed an offer of residence. Priority will be given to new incoming late international applicants and semester one students who receive a new direct offer of admission from the University.

How long is the waitlist?

The Fall 2023 waitlist continues to move steadily, with offers being made in the order of their completion date. A "complete" application includes the Residence Application and the $750 residence deposit.

Will I be included in the room assignment lottery as a late applicant?

Only first-year, incoming students eligible for Residence Priority who applied and paid the $750 deposit by June 1 will be included in the room assignment lottery.

Late applicants will be assigned to the remaining room inventory; however, we anticipate there will continue to be a wide variety of available room types.

Can I still add a roommate preference to my residence application?

At this point in the room assignment process we are unable to entertain preferred roommate requests.

I have accessibility-related circumstances that must be considered in my room assignment. What can I do?

Students with medical or accessibility circumstances that require additional consideration must submit the Accommodation Request Form. As a late applicant, we are unable to guarantee that all requests can be accommodated.

If you have extreme circumstances that require additional consideration, please email housing@uoguelph.ca.

What happens if I apply and change my mind?

Students can cancel their residence application by emailing housing@uoguelph.ca. All students with an offer of residence will forfeit $250 of their deposit if cancelled by July 15, with no refund available after this date.

Any applicants who are placed on the waiting list without an offer are eligible for a full refund. Learn more here.

I have additional questions, who can I contact?

Additional questions related to late applications may be directed to the Residence Admissions team by emailing housing@uoguelph.ca.
