We are excited to offer Biology House South starting in Fall 2022! As an academic cluster, this tight-knit community is a short walk to campus and features queen beds, ensuite washrooms and additional amenities.
Biology House South is located at 785 Gordon Street within the Days Inn Guelph This dedicated wing of the hotel is home to 48 students.
New Community, Same Immersive Residence Experience
Our experience with off-campus residence accommodation has historically been incredibly positive. The additional room amenities and community-building opportunities of an academic cluster will promote collaboration and a sense of belonging at U of G. Students who live in Biology House South continue to be involved in campus life, including Orientation Week, Athletics, Student Wellness, extracurriculars, eating in campus dining halls, and more.

- A complimentary mini fridge and television is included per room
- 1 complimentary parking spot per student (2 per room)
- Co-ed accommodation (single gender per room)

- Residence Life Staff support, including Residence Assistants and a Cluster Leader
- Close proximity to campus, with a 5-minute walk and convenient transit options (closer to the heart of campus than East Residences!)
- Dedicated lounge spaces for students to socialize
- Meal plan required, with quick access to food across the street, including a grocery store, pizza, shawarma, brunch, bubble tea, and more. Many outlets accept U of G Meal Plan.

Residence Fees

Move-In
Move-in for Biology House South will take place on Sunday, September 4, 2022 with timeslots being assigned on the Housing Portal. Students may go directly to the Hotel at 785 Gordon Street where our staff will be there for check-in support.
Additional details have been communicated through email to applicable students.

Q: Where is Biology House exactly?
A: Biology House is located at the Days Inn, which is located a short 5 minutes walk from the main campus and South Residence at 785 Gordon Street.
Q: I need to buy sheets - what size should I buy?
A: Biology House South has all queen beds.
Q: Do I need a Meal Plan?
A: Yes, meal plans are required as there are no kitchen facilities. Students may use any of our Hospitality locations on-campus and can spend flex dollars at numerous restaurants in the Harvard Estates Plaza across the street, including Owmow's, Ray's Chinese, Popeye's, and Bar Burrito.
Q: Is there WiFi in the rooms?
A: Yes, all rooms will have unlimited WiFi. If you have a WiFi printer, you will need to bring a printer cable, as you will not be able to set up your own private network using a router.
Q: What security measures are in place?
A: Students living in Biology House South will have a dedicated wing of the hotel. The front desk is open 24/7 for security, and all students will have room keys to their space. There are 2 Residence Assistants, and Cluster Leader, and Residence Life Manager who oversee Biology House South. Staff will be available on-call to respond to situations in the evenings, and will be working with the Campus Safety Office and Guelph Police.
Q: Where do I do laundry?
A: Laundry services are included in your residence fees and are available in Mountain Hall (South Residence). Students will have card access to enter 24/7.
Q: Is parking included?
On-site parking is included, for no additional charge, with one spot per student. You will need to register your vehicle information upon check-in.
Q: Can I be transferred to another residence?
At this time, transfers are only considered if you have a medical accommodation form submitted. Our experience has been that students are happy with their new community once they have moved in.
