Job Type: Part-Time, 15-20 hrs/week

Department:  Student Housing Services – Desk Services

Description: Student Housing Services provides late-night staffing at the main entrances of our residence buildings to facilitate Student Housing’s Guest protocols. The Team typically works Fridays and Saturdays from 10pm to 3am. In addition, their support is required during higher traffic times which includes but is not limited to: Orientation Week, Homecoming, Halloween and St. Patrick’s Day.

We are looking for a student with management or leadership experience to join our department and manage the Guest Registration and Door Staff Team. The ideal candidate would have experience in a peer management role, strong Communication Skills, a solid background in Customer Service, experience in Scheduling people or tasks, and working in a Team environment.


In the role of Manager of the Guest Registration and Door Staff Team, you will have the opportunity to

  • Provide direct input on the strategic development opportunities for the operation and its leaders


Job Duties:

  • Attending mandatory training in early August
  • Manage the recruitment process for the Guest Registration and Door Staff Team (30 to 35)
  • Update the Staff Procedure Manuals
  • Develop and deliver of the team training at the end of August
  • Schedule the Guest Registration and Door Staff (30 to 35) on the 8 to 10 residence locations – twice a week Fridays and Saturdays (typically) 10pm to 3am; and on special request coverage dates (listed above)
  • Collect, review, confirm hours and submit timesheets to Desk Manager for payroll, bi-weekly from the Team Leaders and Team
  • With the assistance of the Team Leaders (2), manage the inventory of all the Staff supplies prior to each shift/weekend
  • Modeling professional work ethic; supervising, mentoring and coaching the Team Leaders and Team
  • Regular review of all Staff performance and advising the Desk Services Manager on any performance concerns requiring immediate action
  • Responsible for all the duties regular duties of the Guest Registration and Door Staff (Assisting in educating the residence students on Student Housing Services Guest Policy, verifying student and guest identification)
  • Working alongside the Team at each of the three areas to experience the traffic in the North, South and East (once a semester)
  • Checking in on the Team during their shifts (minimum 3 times a term)
  • Cross train on the Residence Desks – Team building
  • Completing mandatory on-line training
  • Other duties as assigned
