Position Title:  Guest Table Staff

Reports To:  Desk Services Manager        

Dept:  Student Housing Services

Position Summary: 

The Guest Table Staff work during the Fall and Winter terms. The Student Staff are required to work late night shifts (9:30 pm - 3:30 am) at the main entrances of the residence buildings to sign in visitors. The Guest Table staff report directly to the Desk Services Manager. This position is primarily customer service oriented. This position provides services and information to the student population, parents, visitors or University staff.  

Essential Functions: 

Responsibilities include: primary duties of this part time position will include working Fridays and Saturday nights starting typically 10pm at night and finishing at 3am.  Guest Table staff may be asked to start earlier or work later to accommodate high traffic in residence or special events.  Staff working these shifts will be providing an afterhours location for students to sign in their overnight guests; their duties will include issuing Guest Passes to Students, and verifying Student and Guest ID.  Other duties could include, assisting on the Residence Desk during staff shortages or high traffic times such as Check In and Check Out.

The responsibilities listed above are not exclusive duties of the position; the Student Staff will be required to follow other related duties as specified by the Desk Services Manager or their designate.

Qualifications and Skills: 

Good communication skills, experience in Customer Service and the ability to work late night shifts (9:30 pm - 3:30 am)is required.  Knowledge of the University Campus, the University's website, Gryph mail and Calendar are essential to this position. Student staff should be familiar with the University resources available to students. Familiarity with the Student Housing Website and the City of Guelph would be a definite asset.
